Amiens Company (named after a Regimental Battle Honour) is the Light Infantry Company and primary manoeuvre element of the Regiment. Its mandate is to ensure soldiers are current on their Individual Battle Task Standards (such as proficiency with the service rifle, fieldcraft, navigation, communications, etc to name a few) and the assigned Battle Task Standards for the training year (such as Offensive Operations). The company stands ready to support Domestic Operations should civilian authorities successfully request assistance from the Canadian Armed Forces (such as, in the event of a natural disaster). A Company also must be prepared to augment the Regular Force by providing soldiers and officers to fill their ranks during deployments of overseas operations.
The Light Infantry Company (Lt Inf Coy) is organized into three Rifle Platoons (Pls) and a Coy Headquarters (HQ).
Each Rifle Pl consists of three 10-member sections (sects) and a Pl HQ. Each sect will be organized into two groups of 4 members The group will be further organized into fire teams of riflemen and Light Machine Gunners (LMG). The Sect Commander (Sergeant or Sgt) leads, while the Sect Second in Command (2iC) (Master Corporal or MCpl) oversees administration with readiness to take command where required.
The Pl HQ consists of the Pl Comd (Captain or Lieutenant), Pl 2IC (Warrant Officer), Signaler, and a 4 member Weapons Detachment (Wpns Det). The Wpns Det is commanded by a MCpl and has three Wpn operators. They are equipped with a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and an 84mm Short Range Anti-Armour Weapon-Medium (SRAAW-M), also known as a Carl Gustav Recoilless Rifle.
The Coy HQ consists of the Command team the Command Post (CP), the Company Quarter Master (CQ), and a Coy Wpns Det. The Command team consists of the Coy Commander (Major), Company Sergeant-Major (CSM) (Master Warrant Officer), two Signalers and a Driver. The CP consists of the Coy Second in Command (2IC) (Captain), a Clerk, a Signaller and a Signaller/Driver. The CQ team consists of a Company Quarter Master Sergeant (CQMS), 2IC (MCpl) and two Storeman/Driver(s). The Coy Weapons Detachment consists of a MCpl in command of at least five support weapon operators.
The total strength of a Light Infantry Coy is approximately 160 personnel of all ranks (6 Officers, 18 WO’s and Sr NCO’s, 102 Junior Ranks).
The Company trains and parades at the Cartier Square Drill Hall, located at 2 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ottawa. Monthly training exercises take place at a number of training areas in Ontario.

BATTLE HONOUR EXPLAINED: The Honour “Amiens” was awarded for the Allied offensive in the Picardy region of France to retake the ground gained by the German Army during the 1918 Spring Offensive. The British divisions in the area had been weakened by the many months of difficult fighting to halt the advance.
